We want church to be a place where your entire family is encouraged to draw closer to Christ—kids and parents too! That's why we offer fun and engaging environments where children can learn and grow in faith. All of our kids' programs are designed to be safe places where children can learn new and exciting things about God while being led and cared for by adult volunteers from our congregation. It's our hope to encourage children to not only discover new things about God, but also begin to understand how those things matter in their own lives. We also understand that parents are the primary influence in a child’s faith formation. This is why we provide resources to help parents bring what kids are learning at church to life at home.
New McKendree Family,
Big changes are coming to our Next Generation Ministry Team. For the last 5 years, Courtney McVeigh and Jordan Cunningham have served faithfully as our Children’s Ministry Coordinators. With their leadership we have experienced much growth, new ministries, the launch of our Family Discipleship initiative, and countless other victories that I couldn’t begin to list. Through all we’ve been through in the last two years, they have been amazing teammates and I have absolutely treasured every Bible lesson, video, event, project and activity we have done together. Courtney has taken a full time job but will keep our High Street Sunday school resourced until the High Street children’s ministry position is filled. Although Jordan will continue focusing on our Family Discipleship initiative, we’ll be looking to fill the South Campus children’s ministry position as well. If you or someone you know would be a potential fit for our team, please have them contact the church office. Church family, I covet your prayers as God leads us through this transition phase. God is faithful and I know He will provide, as Pastor Bryan always reminds us, Gods got this!

Director of Next Generation Ministries
South Campus— Children's Church, Jam and Little Jammers are meeting during worship! Families will check-in in the lobby at the registration table and receive their nametags and parent receipts. Little Jammers - our infants and toddlers should go to their rooms before worship. Our Jam (preschoolers-K) and Children's Church (1st-5th) should have a seat in the sanctuary with their family. After the opening worship music, those age groups of children will be dismissed to their groups. Parents are also welcome to use our new Family Care Room located behind the welcome desk if your child gets a little antsy during the service. The service is live-streamed in that room.
High Street—The schedule for High Street Children's Ministry is changing for the summer. There will be no weekly meetings. High Street Children's ministry will have 4 mission projects. Children will fellowship, look outward, and love their neighbors together. They will meet in the Education Building Room 104 at 10:15 AM on the following dates.
June 12th- Fostering Friendship Bracelets: loving our neighbors in foster care.
June 26th- Cards for Nursing Home Residents: loving our neighbors in nursing homes.
July 10th- Fleece Tie Blankets: loving our neighbors in women’s shelters.
July 24th- The Kindness Rock Project: loving our neighbors at school.
During the school year, Sunday school classes are meet following the worship service in the 1st floor of the education building. Families check-in outside the worship room. Children in 5th grade and younger are invited.
Worship: All children are welcome to attend the worship service with their families. The sights and sounds of children are common and definitely welcome. We do have a newly renovated childcare room available for parents to use as needed during the worship service if their child gets a little antsy during worship. It's stocked with toys and supplies and is near the restrooms.
At Home Weekly is a tool to help parents plan intentional time into the rhythm of the family's life for the purpose of thinking about, talking about, and living out the gospel. The As You Go section reviews the lesson the child learned at church this week. The Remember Verse is a key scripture for the month that reinforces a foundational truth. The Family Devotional includes scriptures, activities, and questions to help you lead focused time studying God's word and practicing discipleship.
Hang tight while we look up scheduled events...

Our children and youth groups at New McKendree have sponsored Jackline Agrey from Tanzania through Compassion International since June 20, 2011 - just over 10 years! That's $4560 of financial support that has helped her and her family receive spiritual nourishment, food, healthcare, education, clothes, school supplies and so much more. We have written countless letters back and forth over the years. We share scripture and prayer requests. Please pray for her when you see this and consider making a financial donation so we can continue to support her until she graduates the program.
Our children and youth Sunday school classes currently have the opportunity to give weekly. We'll soon be launching a children's giving moment during Children attending South Campus worship can give during the giving moment before they are dismissed to their ministry opportunities.
If you would like to make a contribution to support Jackline's sponsorship, you can make a check to New McKendree UMC with "Jackline" in the memo line or you can CLICK HERE to use PushPay at this special link.
