Border TRIP - PHARR, TX
April 12-19, 2025
All high school students and adults are invited to our service-learning trip in Pharr, TX on April 12-19 with Border Perspective. This trip will help you understand the complexity of immigration on the border and you will serve alongside local immigrant ministries.
The cost is $425 per person and a $100 deposit is due by February 27th.
Registration Process:
Step1 Pay $100 Deposit - Paying the deposit reserves your spot for the mission trip . Deposits are non-refundable unless you contact us to cancel your registration by February 27th at noon. We're using a new system to collect payments this year - here are some helpful tips:
When the form asks for Registrant Info that is were you fill in the Parent Info
When the form asks for Attendee Info that is where you fill in the Students Info
If the student or adult is filling out the form for themselves they need to check the box "I am registering myself"
You will be issued a ticket for this payment. You can keep it for your records, but we don't need it.
.
Step 2 Registration/Health Release Forms - Once your deposit is paid you will receive an email with a special link to fill out the online forms from YouthWorks. You will need a picture of your/student's health insurance card.
Step 3 Payment Plan - Our new system allows you to pay the remaining balance of $325 in full or set up a payment plan. The payment plan divides your balance in to three payments that will be automatically charged to your card. This will break up the total into 3 payments. The first payment will be charged when setting up your plan, with the following 2 payments to be charged automatically on a monthly basis for the following 2 months. We will email you a link to set up your final payment.
Step 4 Safe Gatherings Training - Anyone going on the trip age 18 or older has to complete our Safe Gatherings Training. This course includes a background check. We will email you a link to the training.

You can bring sandals too, but to keep your feet safe, you’ll need a pair of closed-foot shoes that completely covers your feet. Bring footwear that you don’t mind getting dirty or wet at service sites and that you can wear in the kitchen.
Pants
Pants are required at our 3 worksites- think loose, cool and comfortable. You can bring shorts for evenings, but we ask that all shorts have a minimum of a three-inch inseam. .
Shirts with Sleeves
They don’t have to be long sleeves and you can roll them up anytime. If you think you’ll get cold, bring long sleeves
too.
Loose-Fitting Clothing
During the week your clothes may endure paint, sweat, mud and lots of love from children! Bring clothes that you can work and play hard in.
Worship Outfit
We will worship with our friends at Iglesia Misionera Cristo Vive and the dress code is modest skirts or dresses, or pants. No jeans. Guys can bring a collared or button down shirt.

Please DO NOT BRING…
• Tank tops or sleeveless shirts
• Short shorts
• Clothing that reveals undergarments, midriffs or chests
• Tight-fitting clothing
• Clothing with obscene, vulgar, abusive or discriminatory language or images
• Attire that represents hate groups, contains threatening language or is gang-related
• Apparel that promotes alcohol, chemicals, tobacco or any other product illegal for use by minors
• Blow dryers, curling irons or straightening irons
* Because shower time is short and because many of our housing sites do not have the power to run all of these
small electronics at one time, we ask that you do not bring them.
• Electronic devices, too much cash or other valuables.
* These items can distract you from others during the week and may be susceptible to theft.
*YouthWorks is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Why?
We don’t want something as simple as clothing to hurt your opportunity to form incredible connections with other church groups on the trip or our friends in the community. Instead, we want to honor those relationships by avoiding attire that could possibly conflict with their cultural or organizational norms. Because space is limited in the sleeping rooms, everything but your sleeping bag and camping pad or air mattress should fit in one duffel bag or suitcase. Please check the local weather forecast for the community you are visiting to help you know how to pack.
