About our pastor


Bryan is a born and raised Kansas Citian. He and Brenda (his bride of 35 years) graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1981. Brenda, a registered nurse, serves as the school nurse at Jackson High School. Bryan and Brenda are the proud parents of two remarkable young men; Andy and Jake. Andy, his wife Jessica, and their two boys, Jude and Miles, reside in Monona, Wisconsin. Jake, his bride, Katie, and their little girl, Josie, reside in Kansas City North.


Education: Bryan is a 2012 graduate of Saint Paul School of Theology’s Masters of Divinity program. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Benedictine College in 1985, and an MBA from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1999.

Pastoral Ministry: Prior to joining New McKendree UMC in July 2018, Bryan served for seven years at Knob Noster UMC. During the years preceding Knob Noster UMC, Bryan served four years as the Associate Pastor at Blue Ridge Boulevard UMC in Kansas City.  Prior to Blue Ridge UMC, he pastored a two-point charge, Polo UMC and Cowgill UMC, in northwest Missouri.  Before answering the call to pastoral ministry in 2005, Bryan and his family attended Avondale UMC where he taught adult Sunday school and served in multiple lay leadership positions.


Corporate & Military Experience: Upon graduating from Benedictine College in ‘85, Bryan was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army and served as a MEDEVAC helicopter pilot. He is a decorated combat veteran and left active duty in August `96 after achieving the rank of Major.


Hobbies: Bryan and Brenda enjoy hanging with family. Bryan’s favorite pastimes include spending time at the lake, working out, playing his guitar, reading, and working in the yard.
