Dear New McKendree Church Family,

On October 17th and 18th, we begin a new three-week worship series entitled “Holy Heart, Holy Life.” Although continuing the Wesleyan Heritage focus that will take us through November, this new series will coincide with our church’s annual Generosity Campaign. While many churches focus on financial aspects of generosity (AKA financial stewardship) during the Fall months, my hope is that we’ll not limit our focus to just that of money stewards. Although generosity certainly includes financial stewardship, it’s also so much more. After all, a heart that’s accepted God’s love and new birth in Christ is a holy heart that expresses itself through holy living; “Holy Heart, Holy Life.”  Generosity is one of the ways we live out our holy life. Our generosity—financial or otherwise—reflects the generosity of God’s heart. We generously give of ourselves in response to God giving himself to us.

With that in mind, please prayerfully consider how you might reflect God’s generosity by supporting the ongoing ministries of our church in the coming year. At the heart of it all, it’s not about ministry budgets and financial statements; it’s about generously blessing others because God has blessed you. If our giving flows from God’s generous love, then our church’s vital ministries resources will take care of themselves.

Nonetheless, God does call us to be the faithful stewards of his blessings.  Therefore,  we as a church must have a process to receive and manage the resources we’re blessed with, especially the financial resources your generosity provides. As in years past, that process begins with the Estimate of Giving Card.

Here’s how it works: By completing and returning an Estimate of Giving Card, you’re expressing your intent and affirming your desire to honor God with your resources. In addition, returning your Estimate of Giving Card makes it possible for our church to plan and implement ministries without hesitation and wisely manage resources throughout the year.

On October 30th and 31st, we will offer our 2022 Estimate of Giving Card as a prayerful act of worship during one of our three services.  If more convenient, you may mail or drop off your card at the church office anytime before October 31st. Or, you may turn in your 2022 pledge electronically by clicking HERE. Either way, please know that your Estimate of Giving Card will remain confidential.

In the days leading up to October 30th and 31st, I pray that you will intentionally thank God for the many ways he generously blesses your life every day. And then, if led to do so, joyfully offer your response to God’s generosity as an act of worship.

Your brother in Christ,

Pastor Bryan Wendling
